4 GORDON CIRCUIT, SEVENTEEN MILE ROCKS

Timber joists supporting recycled Jarrah for N-E entertaining deck, which has glassless, secure, insect-proof windows.

Structural timber for timber framing is erected to form the main framework for the house. Plantation timbers are more environmentally sustainable than steel.

Framing for the ceiling voids arrive. These voids enable improved air circulation and are a key element of the passive air-conditioning system.

The Colorbod roof, in Surfmist, is added. The low thermal mass of the light coloured roof reduces the heating within the roof cavity and keeps the house cooler in summer.

The sand aerobic greywater system treats and stores 450L of greywater, which is used to irrigate the back garden.

External cladding, from QT Systems, is light weight and highly insulated - ideal for this subtropical home.
